The January Meeting

Well, I thought the January meeting went very well. After a rocky start that involved minor intimidation of the Brownies we had an good meeting.

Julie Burns a magazine columnist and also from TV's Trinny and (ahem) Suzannah gave a good talk on vintage fashion and had quite a few items of vintage clothes and jewellery to sell. This went down well and also raised us £15 to our find (I'm tempted to say future wine fund). I hope some of you got good deals.

It was brilliant to see lots of new faces of all ages and interests. Hopefully we can accommodate everyone.

Lots of lovely volunteers signed up for roles in the new WI. Thank you all so much, there was more than enough at the end.

For all those ladies who now do have a role, there is a Kick Off Meeting on
8pm,
Tuesday 27th January,
The Didsbury pub, raised area.

In this meeting we will be probably having a tipple, a laugh and looking at your role, what part you can play each month and some ideas for shaping this WI.
We're still looking fir a venue for next month, if you don't hear different (watch this site, your email or the Didsbury Police notice board) it will be the same as this month but at 8pm so we don't have to frighten small girls again.
Do leave a comment here or email me direct if you have any questions (didsburyvillagewi@gmail.com)
See you next month
Sally

  1. P.S. Since last night had my interest in Vintage/Retro cloths relighted - I found a good link - does any one else have any top tips?

  2. Enjoyed the meeting this month in spite of having had very little interest in fashion for many years and an absolute horror of shopping for clothes and especially shoes(let alone 'changing rooms',unflattering lights and wardens with numbers), I am now kicking myself for not hanging on to my mother's tailored suits and cocktail dresses - could have made a fortune!

  3. Really enjoyed the January meeting although I would not wear Vintage clothing I found Julie very interesting to listen to and she had some lovely clothes to show. I think I will invest in a steam cleaner after what she said.

  4. I also enjoyed the January meeting even though I Still have no desire to go clothes shopping .... Am I the only woman in the country who hasn't been to the sales? It must be that everything seems to be geared for size 14s and below - which is not me.
But its nice to see so many attractive and fashionable ladies at our new WI. I think there are many people who would be amazed if they saw that we are so different from the traditional image of WI ladies!
Looking forward to seeing what topics our new sub-committee will choose for future meetings.
    Liz
